    Hi all,

I have been thinking about remapping my A3 140bhp 2.0TDI Sport.

However, I have a couple of questions that I'm hoping you could help me out with...

    1. I've heard that the 140bhp and 170bhp audis use the exact same engine so remapping my car to 170bhp would not over strain the engine. Is this true?

    2. I would ideally like to keep my original mapping (for boring journeys like driving to work) as well as the remap. As such, I've been thinking about these tuning boxes where you can swap between mappings as and when you please. Has anyone had any experience of these? Are they any good?
    Cheers,

    Hello,
Some ecu remap companies offer a warranty to cover their work. I think the two engines are slightly different with the 170 having BOSCH turbo stuff on board. There are loads of people who will offer you a remap, however if you want to reverse it at will you may want to try a bluefin device from superchips. It's quite pricy but easy to use. If I can manage it anyone can.

Ah so you have a bluefin device. What do you think of it?

Your local audi should do a remap for you as well, might be pricey, but you'll have some comeback and a guarantee.

It works well for me. The car is more responsive and I even get a few extra miles per gallon on a run. I do get a bit of wheelspin though even in the dry anywhere between 3000 and 5000 revs if I plant my right foot hard to the floor. It happens in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th gear. It was easy to install and the car definately performs better. The turbo lag has also been reduced after the re-map. I've done 12000 miles now and the service indicator still shows another 7000 miles to service so it has not affected that. I think my tires are wearing a little quicker though, getting around 9000 miles before all 4 are on the bands.

Just wish I could afford an A5 3l tdi.

I asked my local dealer about this and they did not know anything about it. Is there anything specific I need to ask for. I would prefer to have it done by the main dealer if possible to maintain my warrenty.

My local dealer said that is something they have started doing.

    They are in bedford.

I asked if they could do a remap for more power and he said yes.

These units are made by; http://www.alientech.to/

They will shortly be available on http://www.chiptunawarehouse.com where you could also buy the tuning files for them from companies like AmD technik or DNA Tuning amongst others

I know this is an old post now but in Bedford we also have The TT Shop / TTS Roadsport in Kempston who do "approved" re-maps.

To be honest I dont think these re-maps are any better than any independant ones out there
