Putting my car in for service tomorrow (2002 1.8T GTI) and was wondering if anyone could recommend a specific oil.. I note the specs in the book are:

    Long Life: 503 00
    Multi-Grade High Lubricity 500 00 or 502 00
    High Lubricity 501 01

But I'm still no wiser as to which oil I should go for (fully synth? which viscosity, which brand?)

    Advice much appreciated

    Sol

The guy (family friend) really knew his stuff and put fully synth 5w30 long life in it for the full oil/filter change - came to 50 quid so looks right from that link above - I'm reasonably sure that's the actual stuff he used

Turns out his place gets a lot of work from the VW garage next door so they are pretty much a VW specialist Result!

Chuffed at my new lights too which he fitted FOC (Nightbreaker dips and mains, Diadem indicators and Osram Blue sidelights)
