An independant audi friend of mine has suggested i change my gearbox oil for fully synthetic, is this worth doing as there are no issues with my gearbox. Will it make the gearbox slicker, last longer etc. The car is a 96 1.8 turbo with 170K and still sweet as a nut!! If i decide to change the oil will i need any special equipment to do it?

Yes, it is fully synth, yes I recommend people to have it changed every 50K, you need 2.25 litres (so three bottles as it comes in 0.946L Quarts), I can’t remember the exact price off the top of my head but I think it is about £12 a Quart and I sell it

Red Line MTL is 75W80. Is it suitable for audi? 75W90 is not good? I bought Red Line 75W90 High Perfomance gear oil. Will it suit to my car which is 98 1.8 non-turbo?

Crasher, whats the viscosity of it and will it be ok just to drain mine and re-fill with this red line MTL? I assume i will need a syringe to fill up the gearbox or does the bottle come with a tube and a squeezy bottle?
