HI, I've got a 2002 A6 2.5 TDI quattro (avant) approaching the 100,000 mile level. Ideally I'd like to keep it a while longer, but am starting to get worried about its potential for expensive bills, such as the suspension arms (?), the auto box, the quattro etc.

Anyone of a view of what i could expect if i decide to keep it, rather than trade it in while it is still worth something? What are the major bits of work that might need doing, and what might they cost etc?

The mileage was mostly done on motorway, and we only use it now for short local trips, so its had a fairly easy life despite its high mileage.

Any input greatly appreciated, thx. Chris

From my recent experience get someone to thoroughly check ALL pulleys on the front of the engine!

The way the current car tax band things are going, that will help your diesel retain it's value a little bit, because it is more desirable. You couldn;t have said that about a diesel 10-15 years ago!

Mines fast approaching the 142k miles, seen plenty approaching the 200k miles - mine is the slightly earlier engine, bit of a tank lump, but I have no intention of getting rid of it soon.

What has already been done, outside of scheduled services? if nothing, then I would expect to be in for a few extra bills for suspension rebuild, automatic gearbox fluid and filter change, maybe more.

Thanks for the input. It has been serviced regularly, but as far as i can remember the only thing outside of that that has been done recently was new brake discs. I'll check the pulley situation, cheers.
