The central locking on my old A6 (1997) has packed in. I still here the central locking motor running when I use the key or lock but it doesn't open the doors. I presume the pump has packed in. Before I buy the part I wanted to know if it was accesible and if so where is it? I wanted to note the part number and also see if I could replace it myself.
    Thoughts?

Hi, its under the rear seat bench if its a saloon next to the battery encased in black polistyren or in the boot if its an estate(avant)-check both sides. Also check the vacuum hoses for leaks first.

hi before u think of replacing locate the pump and pull out the inlet and out let air pipes sit inside and lock and un lock the car this will run the pump . place fingers over the out let and inlet one should blow out air while the other will suck in. if this is happening the there is a leak in the pipes locate the leak.
if u r a handy man then look for an old unit open it up and remove the motor/pump assembly and fit it into u r unit. leaving the electronic control board . this will save u from reprogramming costs.
