    Hello!

I am new to owning a car, and this is an used golf mk5 I bought in september last year in Germany. So far everything is good and I absolutely love it, but recently my car started acting up.

It randomly starts showing the (( ! )) icon on the dashboard and beeps 3 times, then the icon flashes for a while (sometimes longer, sometimes shorter), turns off and this repeats. It's pretty annoying and this happened about 10 times in a 20-25 minute ride, so you can imagine how annoying this is. The pauses between the beeps and durations of the icon flashing are totally random to me, I couldn't figure out a pattern. Here's a video I made today, have a look at it (For some reason it's upside down).

Anyone maybe know what's wrong? Thanks in advance for all your replies. And sorry if this has been asked already.

welcome. that be your brake has a problem warning light. either the handbrake is not fully down or the switch is faulty, the brake fluid is low or a pad is worn and setting the sensor off.

I had the brake pads changed like 2-3 months ago, not sure. Could it be the brake discs instead?

I will check the hand brake tomorrow, is there any way to check the brake fluid level?

no, only the brake pad has a sensor. you check the brake fluid level by looking at the level in the resevoir.

It was the brake fluid, the reservoir was a bit under minimum and that's why it was going on and off. Thanks!
