Well, I have spent the last 4 hours at work reading the whole 16 pages of this forum.....

I got a 1.9TDi that used to go like **** off a stick but about a week ago it went into what can only be described as "Limp Mode".

Anyways, when i got in the car the next day, it was sort of fine again, not perfect...but better. This was so for a few days then it went into limp mode again for a few hours till it was parked overnight.

Now tho, it seems to be permanently limp. Does this sound like the Mass Air Flow Meter?

I am gonna get it diagnosed at an auto electrical company tonight, but I hear that the flow meter doesnt always show up, is this correct?

I have also read that I can disconnect it to see if it gets any better or worse. Will this damage the car?

Anyways....wish me luck, a big thanks to all the helpful people that by helping others have also helped me to get an insight into the problem instead of replacing the Catalytic converter as advised by my local backstreet garage....

Just to update people, I took my car to a local electronics company - He picked up the fault as being a leaky pipe. He replaced 2 pipes and also turned off my airbag light that has always been on since i bought the car.

He spent probably an hour on the car all told and it is now faster than its been in the 2 years that I have had it.

I was charged a total of £32 (£20 of this was for the diagnostic check). I completely reccomend this garage for anyone in the yorkshire area, you could tell just from watching him work that he knew exactly what he was doing. I will grab his card out of my car at Dinner time and put his name and address in this post.
