Boost presure control difference, caused by sticking vaines inside the VNT turbo, recycling the ignition resets this but the ecu will record the fault code, get this code then google it and it should say the same thing i have.
    Turbo replacement or recon.

I had a similar problem with my Alhambra. Turned out to be a faulty N75 valve which helps control the pressure in the turbo, the turbo itself was not at fault. Although mine was done under warranty it is actually a cheap fix, the part itself less than £50.

Hi, i was told N75 valve by vw but it wasnt, they can run a test for the cost of half an hours labour, but make sure they do the test in the gears and rev range that it happens to you as the test has set parrameters of 1500-3000 rpm in 3rd gear, which if your car was the same as mine was not enough to load the turbo up, they re ran the test in 5th and hey presto turbo failure. VW will recomend you donot have the turbo recond as do Garrret ( dont know about the KKK on the 130) but i had mine done and have had 20K miles of happey motoring.

This sounds like exactly the same problem I am having. I have a 2000 PD Passat - just coming up to 199,000 miles and was running perfectly until the last couple of weeks. Did you find that turning the ignition on and off (not the most sensible thing to do at 80mph), once cured it for the rest of the journey or did you have to keep doing it. I find that at about 80mph in 5th gear it hits a brick wall and i have to turn off and then on again. It cures it briefly but then it happens again. Its a bit embarrassing when it does it overtaking going up hill.
Has yours remained trouble free since you had the faults cleared.
I am looking to get mine checked in the next week or so.

Allright groomoid, your symptoms are normally the turbo, but as proved above can sometimes be different.
