It's a fact that a two wheel drive will never beat a four wheel drive on " the bendy stuff".

A Typr R may be good but my point is that any Audi quattro is more than good. It all depends what you are used to. My current car is not as good as my S4 was, however it is better than my 225 TT or my A3 3.2 quattro were. All were in my opinion better than a frount wheel drive honda. Thats why we are all driving audi/VW cars and not hondas?

I think the standard 170 is as quick if not quicker than the 3.2 lump in either the TT, A3 and A4.

4wd should always be better than 2wd, I just thought the type R chassis is much better than the A3 chassis, much the same way as the Golf MK5 chassis is better than the A3.

So i'm sort of agreeing, but also trying to say that the type R is better than you give it credit for. I think it was Autocar that tested it against the Impreza a few years ago on the isle of man and it was good, really good.

I had a quick look for the test but can't see it, more delving later to find it.

I did see the current type r beating the new impreza and they mention "Hondas wearing that badge have been known for delivering sizzling front-wheel-drive dynamics"

Top Gears lap times show the type R only 0.3 seconds slower than a R32 and 0.8 seconds slower than a TT 3.2
Current Car: Skoda Octavia vRS Hatch 2.0TDi 170 CR in Candy White
Outgoing Car: 2007 56 Plate Audi A3 Sport Sportback 2.0TDi 170 PD in Black

Had a civic type r for 4 years (both pre facelift and facelift).
Killed me to get rid of it but needed to the fuel saving as do alot of motorway driving.

Purchase a a3 2.0tdi sline (140ps) and its not that bad, the torque is preety good, more than the civic provided. But the only difference is that it doesnt continue to 8k rpm and you never be able to get that in a diesel anyways!

Its a very nice car, the only thing i missed about my civic is the handling and of course the final vtec kick!
But for a costing saving, crusing confortable car the A3 2.0tdi 140 is fine.
I purchase the S Line to make up for the reason i didnt have 220bhp, but at least i got leather, 18" alloys and the bodykit!

You could get a re-map for £350 take u up to about 180ps if you really want the extra power, you will only notice between 2-4rpm and top end speed.
