Hi there, just returned to this forum. I am just about to replace my 2005 130PS trendline with a new 2008 1.9 SE with Leather and a few other extras. Great deal on an out going variant. I am very pleased. Now the request for help, some while ago I am sure I saw a listing with a link to a document an American Gentleman creayed listing 100 things you didn't know about your Passat. It had loads of things like where the cubby holes are and how to adjust things.

    Did I dream it?

If not, anyone got a link they can share?

    Thanks in advance
    Mark

Incidentally, I though that the SE had been 'replaced' by the Highline...which has a far better spec' (MF steering wheel, full leather, heated fron t seat etc etc)??????????????

NOTE to the mods....Could the above link be made sticky pls???

Thanks very much for such a quick response.

yes Highline has replaced SE but it seems the local dealer has bought up a stack of SE's with Leather and few other bits and have pre-registered them. Delivery mileage saving on the VAT and with 'free' leather. A good deal, but shame I couldn't stretch the extra £1500 for the 2.0 6 speed.

    Never mind

    Thanks again

Could you not have gone for a year old 2.0 tdi? I, personally, found that the 1.9tdi wasn't as economical as the 2.0tdi

PS, that link is really handy :-)

It's a fair point, but after three years with a new B5 Trendline 130, which has definitely turned me in to a VW 'lifer', I wanted to repeat the exercise with the confidence of a full 3 year warranty.

With the used option I wouldn't have got the 'free' extras as well as I suppose the dealer has more of an incentive to move a new one.

A straight choice I suppose, 1 yesr old standard SE140 / 2.0 or a new 1.9 SE with Leather, protection pack and IPOD. For probably about the same 'price to change'.

By the way, noted that the new 1.9 will be conserably slower than the old 1.9 130 B5.

Nice shock on the insurance though, for a car roughly 2.5 times the value, I got £75 bac in insurance refund.

    Can't wait till Friday!

By the way, the Mrs. picks her new Golf Match 1.6 FSI on the same day, same dealer and nearly identical Reg. How twee is that ?

There is some marital strife though because she gets Highline computer, auto lights and wipers, leaving home lights blah blah blah and has to ask me whet they are for!!!! Now that's just not fair.

    all the best Mark

The 1.9 only has 105bhp and a 5 speed box which would put me off it TBH.
