I have the same engine and with a similar, but intermittant, problem. VAGCOM reports a MAP sensor fault, which I intend to rectify once I've removed the ECU. There is another thread with a lot of discussion about MAP sensors. However, if you haven't seen this fault code, this may not be your problem. I'm not sure how much faith to put in fault codes as the codes could be triggered or masked by other problems. Another possibility is a sticking EGR valve which is allowing exhaust gases into the inlet manifold just when you could do without this.

Was the MAF genuine or one off the ebay ? If the pump is toasted it will trigger a quantity adjuster code....Any odd noises from the pump ? If you live close to london, i could help ! Regards, Chris- 07789912128.

to be honest, the last thing i would have in mind if i were you would be the diesel pump! It may be something as silly as a clogged filter. could be many other reasons.
Have you looked at it with something like vag com?

Hay hopefully I can help you! I have an a4 19tdi (not the red eye) 90bhp AHU it cut out when reved over 3rpm and wouldnt drive over 80mph wouldnt start on the first turn of the key!

Whats been done: re-cond diesel pump (which cost £200 as a favour ), all the timing re set, all the injectors checked and so on. dropped a valve and wrecked the head so two new valves re-cond head and new piston, a while later same again so got a second hand engine, same engine code, which also ran perfect in the other car (smashed car thought) soon as it was in my a4 it still wouldnt rev over 3rpm. i sent the ecu away to two different places and both times it came back as new! also car was sent to diesel specialists and auto electritions!

ive had the car since nov 07 and we're now in may 08! lots and lots of money spent on this car!

I replaced the CRANKSHAFT SENSOR!!! my audi runs like a dream, starts first turn of the key revs as high as it will go got it to 110 couple of nights ago and ran out of road!

the crankshaft sensor cost me £80 from audi (i know someone in the parts depo though) so i think it will cost bout £90 but i think euro is cheaper!

let me know if i have helped any of you guys, or if you need any more info Good Luck

is ther any fault codes? ive read a lot of other posts on this and simmilar ones to your problem its always been a blockage in a hose or something to do with the turbo. you can tell the diesel specialist about me replacing the crankshaft sensor and see what they think, wether you should try it or not.

im not sure if my car was at a more advanced stage than your car as the previous owner said the car wouldnt rev over 3rpm but never cut out on him and then one day it just died and wouldnt start again. i took the car as a non runner and done what we could to get it to run and thats whan we wer faced with the cutting out!!!

let me know how you get on
