While drooling over the R32 in the dealership near my office, I was wondering if anyone has any comments on the automatic DSG box on these cars?

Is it just me or would this take away an important and involving part of the car?

I'm seriously thinking about putting away some extra money each month to get an R32 late next year (perhaps a year or two old, not new...but then there comes a problem of finding one that hasn't been thrashed to pieces).

You should of posted this in Mk5 section as the DSG was never fitted to the Mk4 so not many of us would of had much dealings with it...

From what I have read in the press though it is the gearbox to have though it is a very expensive option. I too like the R32 but they cost oh so much to run, I will probably go for the GTi. On R32's registered after middle of March 06, it costs £400 a year to tax it! OUCH!

I'm wondering whether prices might see a dip in about a year's time what with all the tree hugging environmental laws causing tax to rise so much. At least on the used car front anyhow.
