Guys have any of you come across anyone with a 205 GTi 8v with a turbo conversion?? I've got one at home and seriously considering bolting on a blower. I've heard of Turbo Technics doing these conversions in the past, but a quick visit to there website tells me that the have stopped doing them. Any help would be great guys.

The original T16's were excellent, especially the E2 with 450bhp and 0-60 in 3.3 seconds.

Turbo conversion kits for the original XU5/9 blocks are thin on the ground, and most will be 'low boost' kits for standard compression on the favoured alloy block Mi16, or later Mi/S16/GTI6 XU10 2.0ltr lumps.

It is generally much more economical to buy a 2.0ltr 8v/16v Turbo engine to transplant (405 T16/406/605/XM etc).

The first link has 8v kits based on GT25-30.

Fantastic stuff. Still not sure what to do with the Pug. I like the 8v lump and would rather keep it in it as it has only 60k on the clock. But if I was to say that i would be looking for a gain of about 85hp to bring it to about the 200-210hp mark, would i be better off with a 16v or could the 8v cope?? The origional chassis is very stiff but would it need to be re-inforced in any way to handle the extra stress??

Depending on what lump you put in it, brakes and lowering kit.

The 16v engines are all much heavier than the original blocks, even the alloy Mi16.

It seems a shame to touch it if its mint.

If you just want more 'go' for the street, i would consider simply altering the gearing.

    16v box for 1.9

Maybe XS final drive for 1.6.

Wheel spin/clutch control will be a problem.
