The lower part of my passats radiator grill was damaged recently - presumably by someone who doesnt know how to park their car! Now ive bought the replacement part from the main dealer, and they said that the old one should just "pop" out and the new one "pop" in. Im not sure that the case now - the top part of the grill seems to overlap the lower somewhat, and the clips are almost impossible to reach. I expect ill have to take the entire grill out to change it. Has anyone got any tips or guides on how to do this properly?

Tip and advice - If you want it done properly get a VW Approved mechanic to fit it.... If you want to chance it yourself, then you will have to fiddle... not had to replace a grille myself before but, like you said, it looks quite easy - it just might turn out to be harder than it looks...

I've tried something like this on my Seat Leon when a bird strike damaged the grill - a bit of pulling and gentle persuasion later and **snap**, something broke - not sure what and I never looked into it...

Err on the side of caution and get a VW/VW approved bloke to look at it first.
