    Default Smoke out of exhaust – 03-05-2008,09:44 AM
    Hi,
    After being stuck in traffic for 1h30 in Dartford tunnel, (car idle) and crawling along, smoke was coming out of the exhaust(kind of blue and very smoky) every time i accelerate.
    After picking up speed , the car was fine.
    It is not the first time it happen maybe 1 year ago the same thing for about 5 minutes then stop.
    Can anyone explain why.
    My thoughts were that i was stuck and idle in the car, and maybe it didnt like it.

    Blue smoke coming out of the exhaust tends to indicate oil being burnt.

    With it running at idle for so long there could have been enough oil getting in to get burnt that you notice it, but day to day there isn't enough to show up.

    What engine you running?

    Is it high mileage?

    Would definately think about getting it checked out, better catching anything that might be wrong early incase any more damage is done!!
