Hi, firstly just waiting to say Hi to everyone

done a little bit of reading on here already and its good, people actually seem to enjoying sharing what they know and not being all high and mighty which alot of forums suffer

    Back to the subject

just picked up a little golf on an S reg with quite a few problems. Had to tow her the 20miles home as the brakes won’t stop her completely

Story i have been told that the previous owner replaced the rear calliper (that bit must be true as its silver and the rest of it is red) and since the braking has been rubbish, it will slow you done a little but not enough to stop down a hill or if someone brakes in front of you. he's bleed the brakes several time but to no avail.. any ideas?? (seem to read alot on here that the use of a vag com helps?? i have access to a privately owned VAS 5052 so if anyone could guide me on that it would be awesome

next the p/s door won’t catch at all when you shut it neither lock (apparently he said that’s a common failure

washer bottle warning lamp is on (haven’t checked it yet as it was dark getting home)[/

airbag light is on and horn doesn’t work (he did have a momo steering wheel on there so im guessing he hasn’t put it back together correctly

missing a wing mirror. buckled wheel, exhaust rattling on what i think is the heat shield.

and that’s all i know atm until i get my teeth into tomorrow

ANY help with what the main problems could be ie the brakes and door mechanism and what to look for and test would be awesome

    thanks in advance!

OMG! Did he pay you to take the car away?!? Seriously though, the list of problems would make most people walk away without a backward glance at it. Doesn't sound like a very well cared for car at all.

I'm not all that technical, but I'm sure you will get plenty of suggestions from other members on how to resolve your faults.

    Good luck!
