    Default 2001/51 1.8T Blown engine – 25-12-2006,11:45 PM
    Hi everyone.

    Just wanted to know has anyone else suffered from this problem ?

    The auto tensioner on my timing chain snapped, then the timing chain itself snapped, causing enough damage to the engine to make it uneconomical to repair !

    Has anyone else heard of this problem or experienced it - VW say this is almost impossible !

    how many miles is on it??

    of over 60-70K was the cam belt changed??

    When ever the cam belt is changed its recommend that the auto tensioner is also replaced at the same time?? do you have proof this was compeleted if the cam belt was changed??
