    I have a 1995 Golf Mk3 CL with an oil light/buzzer problem.

The light and buzzer will come on and stay on when the revs to a certain speed. I have looked into this problem online and see that other people are experiencing a similar thing.

Ive tried 10W oils instead of 5W as suggested by someone online, have tried disconnecting & reconnecting the battery and nothing works.

Another suggestion is replacing the Oil Pressure Switch. Now i know nothing about cars so i have taken some photos to show you all. I think theres an oil leak aswell as the bit i believe the switch is - is covered in oil.

Ive looked at switches on ebay etc and they look pretty simple to fit - just screw in tight and reconnect the wire?

Are there any important steps i need to take before i unscrew the broken one one? I dont want to make matters worse.

I believe the Oil Pressure Switch the white bit you can see in the photos? What is the similar looking one to its left?

You Have 2 oil pressure switches on your engine. But what you need to do is check the oil pressure to find out if it is a mechanical or electrical fault

hi ya i have a 8v gti 2L recently had the oil light coming on and beeping i changed to oil pressure sensors and the rocker cover gasket and the problem went a way....... 1st sensor is on top of the oil filter and the second is in the side of the engine just down from the rocker cover i advise taking them out one at a time and writing down the part number and pressure bar then go down to your nearest vw dealer and get the genuine part cost me about £9 each parts might of been upgraded hence going to the dealer to check the part numbers are correct replace again one at a time think its a 22 or 24 mm spanner or socket
    hope it helps
