    Hi All,

I've just become the proud owner of a 2001(B6) A4 2.5 TDi V6 Quattro and on the whole I'm mightily impressed. I have however noticed a few issues which I was hoping you guys might be able to give me some advice on.

Firstly, there is a quite uncomfortable vibration which is only noticeable between about 65 and 80mph. It isn’t coming through the steering wheel but seems to vibrate the whole chassis. Could this be wheel balancing or is it more likely to be transmission or Quattro related? The car has the 17" Star Alloys fitted.

Secondly, neither speaker in the driver’s door seems to be working. I have the Audi Symphony Bose system. Are there any obvious connections I can check for the door wiring without taking the whole door to bits?

The final thing is also Audio related. The reception on the radio is terrible and from searches on the forum I’ve been led to believe this is something to do with the aerial amplifier located above the rear window on the passenger side.
I’ve had a quick look and can’t see any obviously loose connections or signs of corrosion so I’m beginning to think the whole unit is faulty. Are there any other places I can get a new unit without going to Audi, I’ve checked the vagparts.com site and they don’t seem to stock this particular item.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers, Mike

Call Vagparts, alot of bits are not listed on their site.
The vibration could be anything, damaged tyre balancing or tracking, start with a wheel balance and tracking, quattro's should have the tracking checked with specialist equipment, make sure where you take it has the right equipment.

    Thanks Kite,

I happened to pass an open garage today so nipped in and got the wheels swapped front to back, something the last owner admitted he hadn't done since the tyres were put on quite a few hundred miles ago. Also had the balancing done on all four wheels. This seems to have made quite a large improvement to the vibration but it is still present at some speeds. Think I'll try the tracking next.

I'll give Vagparts a call put strangely the radio was working perfectly well when I gave it a try earlier.
