    Guys,

Can anyone explain where pollen filters are on 2002 A4 Avant Sport, how to change and approx cost. Pictures would be great or a step by step idiot's guide (or even better, both)!! I have the smelly air con problem!! Have tried the sprays but the 'socks' are still there!!

    Cheers in anticipation .....Mitch

    I don't have pics, sorry.
Under the bonnet, remove the bulkhead cover (it covers the battery)
I think the pollen filter is on the passenger side

...and while you've got the cover off, stick your fingers down below the battery and see if there's any water lying there. When I checked, there was about 2 inches of water, cos one of the drain holes was blocked.

This meant that when it rained, the water level rose, and water could seep in beside some of the cables to the airbox, so as soon as you turned on the fan, the whole car misted up.

Solution was to unblock the drainhole - about a gallon of water came out! The blocked drain hole was quite inaccessible - I had to take the battery out to get to it.

As for the pollen filter - I think it cost about a tenner.
