I need to replace the radio aerial on my 94 audi 80. It's already been snapped off from the rear wing and the sleeve inside is also missing. Can I replace simply with another like for like part or is it more awkward than this. Any tips to look out for would be most appreciated as you can guess I've not had to replace one before so don't know where to start.

Just done this on my 94 80E Saloon, it's easy enough, remove the left hand side panel trim carpet stuff, you will see the aerial, it's a case of unscrewing the lock nut on the top the aerial (outside) and then undoing the small nut which holds it in place on the inside, withdraw it from the wing, unscrew the cable from the aerial mast and then screw this cable in to the new mast, fit the new mast through the hole in the rear wing, fit and secure the lock nut then fit the small nut to the bracket, job done. I got my aerial from GSF, it was about a fiver, took a bit of sorting out on their part to get the right one but take the car to your local branch and they will be able to match it up for you.

It's easy enough when you see the job.

    Found this one on fleabay.

Fitted ok but sticks out at an angle slightly from the car and cheap as chips.
Also my original aerial was not held in by a nut on the outside - simply a matter of pulling pretty hard from inside the boot and then using pliers to remove the rubber ferrule going through the wing. Works absolutely fine.

Thanks - looks & sounds good enough. Did you have to re-wire or did the replacement screw into the original wiring connector ok?
