hazard light and indicator problem

I recently bought a used, T reg VW passat 1.8 s from a dealer. I am experiencing a new problem now. As soon as I put on the hazard lights it will blink for little while and it is going to a stationary mode after that. This is the same problem with the side indicators as well.

When I spoke to the dealer they told me it would be 'relay problem' which is not covered under their warranty. Could someone please tell me what is meant by the relay problem and how do I fix it and how much approximately it may cost to fix.

The hazard switch also incorporates the indicator and hazard relays.

Quite a common failure but only about £20 and an easy diy fix.

This should sort it.
