I get mostly between 450-480 but that's mostly stop- start, I've got to go through Newcastle city centre to get to work and the on board computer reckons I get only get around 34-35mpg due to the number of traffic lights. Mind once I'm past that bit it climbs to 48-52mpg Motorway driving easy 50+ . Even doing 90mph (not to condone speeding) at the weekend on a run (about 100mile roundtrip) easy 52mpg! I would imagine that it's easy to get 60mpg+ if I was to travel everywhere at 55mile per hour but if I wanted to travel at that speed i would have bought a 1litre fiesta (not that i'm knocking fiestas) .

In fact before I bought my Bora TDI 115bhp I had a 1.4 zetec fiesta and although it was quick of the mark (0-60 10.5 secs) it ate the fuel- I never got above 36 mpg out of it doing 55mph- usually i would only get 28mpg and it cost £32-35 to fill the tank and I was only gettin 200miles for that. I had 1989 2l 8v audi coupe which I got rid of the fuel economy and it did about the same as the fiesta -If only i'd kept the audi!

For the Bora I worked it out that i never get under 45mpg despite my lead foot By the way my on board computer average mph seems to be 2mpg out. I'm one of those sad-do's that works my mpg out off how much fuel i put in compared to the mileage i've done! I know really sad!

I used to regularly get 50+ mpg out of my 130 bhp diesel Bora. We only get low 30's in our petrol one unfortunately.

I am very happy with mine, i have a 130 TDI and for the last three tanks have got over 600 miles, thats a micture of motorway, town and B roads. I tend to stick at about 70-75 on dual carriage ways and motorways but i hardly drive like a granny elsewhere.

so 600 miles is good in my opinion, though i do take it to the red light.

Be suprised if i got 600 out of a tank especially if its redlined now and again. happy wi 500 and thats all that maters 2 me..........TT was only getting me 280-310 to the tank.

but driving exeperience is no comparison. TT wins up all day as i took her out 2 day 4 a drive after sitting 4 a week and f??k me its quick..........but she gotta go!

    270 bhp to 115 mmmmmm

Lol, yes there is a bit of a difference there... Yo could always get your 115 TDI remapped, i beleive its possible to reach 150bhp and still be driveable, i admit it wouldnt be as fast as the TT but it would still be pretty quick, especially mid range, I plan to get my 130 remapped to 160-170bhp and hopefully get another 3-4mpg (If driven carefully).

a bit of confusion here i think.
as i read it,speed12 was refering to allowing the fuel tank to get low enough to bring the warning light on( although mine is yellow, not red), and not driving
the car with the revs at the red line.
by the way,has anyone ever taken thier tdi to the red line?
i have never been close with my 130.
    regards,
    stewy.

Dont think i have ever red lined my 130, i dont think you gain much by red lining a deisel due to the power curve, the most i take mine to is about 4,000 RPM.

yeah, that's my view also, but was wondering why cot would think that you had redlined yours?

I find my consumption is between 34 and 52 mpg, the 34 was obtained on a very high volume of traffic day to work and the 52 was obtained during the work journey to home.

Have still got to do a long motorway journey so will be intresting to see what the fuel consumption will be
