I have a Golf 1.9 TDI Mk 4. In cold weathers/frosts, the doors stick and it sometimes i am unable to open the drivers door. The passenger door seems to open and i often have to get in the passenger side and force the door open from the inside. I have loosened the drivers door handle by trying to force the door open, but, thankfully, the door locks with no damage done. I have lubricated all the hinges/catches but still the problem occurs. Any ideas to prevent this? Many Thanks,
    Adam

i was given a few tips last winter as i had the same problem with my fiat brava, i should imagine it is universal for most car doors tbh. best thing i found was to get a little bit of anti freeze on the non-greased parts of the door, or smearing a little vaseline on the joints etc. other than that, sometimes it is just a case i find of pouring gently warm water down the join of the door and allowing the door to thaw out, i would never 'force' a door open, as you could break any number of components in doing so, time is less expensive than a new door!
