Hi, I take delivery of a 07 2.0tdi 170 sport estate manual in a few days time. So while trying to find out a little more about them a came across this site. These seems to be a lot of talk regarding DPF.
    What is DPF?
Do all tdi Passats have it?
How do I found out if mine has it?
If it has what difference does it make?
Does anybody now if VW dealers can retro fit ipod connections?

    thanks

    DPF - Wiki Quote:
A diesel particulate filter, sometimes called a DPF, is a device designed to remove diesel particulate matter or soot from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine. Wall-flow diesel particulate filters usually remove 85% or more of the soot, and can at times (heavily loaded condition) attain soot removal efficiencies of close to 100%. A diesel-powered vehicle equipped with functioning filter will emit no visible smoke from its exhaust pipe.

No, I don't think they all have them - Not sure how you tell TBH.

And yes, they can. For £150 - I got an XCarlink adapter which worked fine up until recently, but that was a broken Stereo issue....

PS, congrats on the purchase - hope you like it

PPS, check for the ol' creaking suspension....

the 170 engine has a DPF, it is designed to keep emissions down.

You will need to drive the car quite hard (20 mins at 2.5K revs) at least once every 8-10 days otherwise the filter can get clogged, but a good drive brings the emissions temperature up and the soot gets burnt off.

It is a cracking car, I have the SEL, and have covered 14K in not a lot of months. The ipod connector isn't worth it as you lose the MP3 compatibility on the stereo.
