I am due to change the fuel filter soon. Usually I add a bottle of Forte to the tank every now & then to give the injectors a clean.

Some people say filling the fuel filter with injector cleaner will give the injectors a concentrated dose & more effective clean.

Is this a good idea or could it kill my car?

    Thanks.

Doesn't sound like a smart idea to me, but im sure you will hear 101 different answers on this.

How often do you change your fuel filter? I was told via a VW trained mechanic that to help prevent premature failure of the PD injectors (which is common when poor quality diesel is used) he recommends changing the fuel filter every time you do an oil filter change.

Maybe a bit excessive, but i'll be doing it.. better 18 quid for a fuel filter than 400 odd for an injector or two... or four.
