Headlight question.

Morning,

A couple of q's re. my Mk5 headlights. Firstly one of the brackets has gone on my o/s headlight causing it to shake when driving (no noise but I can see my light beam vibrating of road signs while driving), my local VW dealer says that I need a complete replacement but I've heard that you can get a repair kit for the bracket, any of you done this before?

Also (this is prob a nooby q) if I'm to upgrade my bulbs to halogen lights do I require different headlight units than the standard ones (which I must say provide as much light as 2 matches hanging off my car) or can I just change the bulbs?

Correct there is a repair kit available and it's about £15, it doesn't look pretty but it will do the job!

If your dealer can't find it or are being idiots then the part numbers for a 2006 model (probably all the same) are :

1k0 998 225 (Left)
1k0 998 226 (Right)

If you do not own a 2006 model then they can cross reference to see which ones will fit your car, but I'm 99% sure they're all the same.
