    i have a AUDI 1996 90 BHP 1.9TDI
    WHEN I REV THE ENGINE ITS GIVES A STRANGE HISSING WHICH GROWS LOUDER AND LOUDER AS U KEEP INCREASING THE REVS AND DARK SOOT COMES WITH IT , IAM NOT GETTING THE REQUIRED TURBO BOOST. NOW CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM
    IS THE AIR MASS FLOW METER OR IS IT THE DUMP VALVE OR I HAVE TO REPLACE THE TURBO CHARGER.
    PLEASE KEEP IN MIND IT GIVES ME 575 MILES ON A FULL TANK ON THE MOTORWAY AND I CAN GO UPTO 110MPH
    KINDLY HELP ME
    CUZ THIS HISSING SOUND REALLY ****** ME AND WHEN ACCELARATING IT GIVES REALLY THINK SMOKE

    Sounds like a small boost leak.

    Check the charge pipe between turbo & intercooler for damage or leaks, and tighten up all the hoses.

    Also check the control tubing that connects the Turbo to N75, and N75 to wastegate actuator.

    Tighten all hoses/connectors associated with the turbo & charge pipes.

    Can you locate where the sound is coming from with an assistant revving the car?

    If it is not this check for leaks around the manifold with talc/chalk dust, or maybe EGR valve dodgy.

    thanks for the advice i will check as u said on the weekend
    as u said to check from where the sound is coming
    it only comes when the car is running when the car is in neutral gear
    so i cant tell where the sound is coming
