I would like to ask how easy it is to change the front and rear pads on my A3 TDI sportpack. I feel £300 from a dealer is ridiculious when i can do it myself. Thanks

You could always give Kwik-Fit a try. IIRC, they will give free replacements afterwards for as long as you own the car!!

would depend on how skilled you are with a spanner as such...

what i mean is that these are your brakes after all..

I changed all mine recently (2001 S3) which required a few specialist tools (esp the rear ones) but you have to be comfortable with what your doing...

    it's never extra money.

try 1 litre of £15 oil every 7000 miles

    or

Two new tyres at £200 every 13000 miles and then an extra 2 at 36000 miles.

    seems never ending

They are Bridgestone Potenza's and they have yet to last 13k, I'm on about 9k and they will need doing in the next two weeks.

SportMaxx - 13k fitted as standard on the car
    SP9090's - 11-12k liked the tread pattern
Potenza's - 9k came 3rd for performance and wear on which.co.uk and also fitted as std to Impreza STi and A5

I think i'm gonna get Sport Contact 2's next, had them before on another car and they lasted well and gripped well. But will be done on all 4 corners. eek. £400 !!

The rears are still the SportMaxx's and have lasted 35k
