i drive a 02 passat, auto& tiptronic gearbox. sometimes it wont change gear,it keeps reving, sometimes up to 3000 revs and then it will jump into gear. i have to change into tiptronic to get it to change, when i do it also then jumps into gear. what could be the problem.

Post this in the VW section and you may get some answers. The first thing I always do is change the automatic transmission oil, if the problem persists I start to think hard.

oil is low - when it gets past the level of the filter sucks air in so jerks or goes into neutral and then when level goes back the iar is pushed out - so top oil uo - cheapest method.

if oil is low means leaking obviously somewhere - get the hoses for the cooling pipe checked first cuz can rust - and then the seals aswell - but do the easiest first otherwise youre paying for the box to come out.

happenned to me and getting it fixed as we speak - leaky seepy hoses - audi quoted as a lie 590 pounds for a seal and gearbox removal - local garage said its a simple leaky hose - doing it for 150

    thank
