    Hi

I was just about to order myself a brand new VW Golf MKV 2L TDI Sport 170ps DSG.

Dealer told me MKVI due early 2009.

Shall I delay my purchase or shall I just go for this lovely MKV ?

    several options here.

    1, buy it.

2, buy one second hand (a saving)

3, wait till the MK6 is out and buy a MK5 (more of a saving perhaps.

4, wait for the mk6 and order one of those. (buy this time you'll have saved loads of ££££ and know more on the cost of fuel and it may sway your choice of petrol / diesel. New gear boxes and engine varients may also be available.
Sods law though, you get a new mk6 and then they bring out a facelift that looks even better.)

Have you seen the mk6 golf? i personally think its horrible, its trying to hard to be an audi a3. dont get me wrong a3's are nice but the mk6 should be its own car i think.

I had the same thoughts about the MkVI. Decided to buy MKV GTI - I like the look of the current one, never know what the new one will be like. Bird in the hand and all that....

I agree based on the photos on the net the MKV is alot nicer and I prefer it.

Especially as it is trying too hard to be an Audi A3.

Unless photos are misleading and actual one not going to look like that.

Anyway, I am glad you guys brought this up as I am now leaning towards ordering an MKV for delivery when the new number plate is out in Sept-2008

Also, I read somewhere that the MkVI is going to have a different rear suspension set up from the MkV. i.e. It's not going to be independant rear suspension, which I personally think will ruin the handling!!

I would go for a MkV any time

    Just my tuppence worth

read somewhere martin wintercorn, the new VW boss didn't like the MkVI and ordered a rethink, the new pictures are around on the net if you look hard enough and im glad to say it lnow ooks more like the usual evolution the golf goes through now than initial awful none golf looking A3 (esp front end) style car style car. Will now not be out till 2009, my local dealer said they expect it mid to end of next year.

    So go buy a MkV
