    I have a Mk4, 1.6 S saloon.

Central door locking does not work on the front passenger door - here's a description ....

When I insert the key (there is no remote) into the door lock, turn it (clockwise or anticlockwise) I hear the usual locking-related noises, but the locks don't open or lock. There is little/no resistance when turning the key.

    Driver's door is ok.

Any ideas ? and how much to fix ?

could be the rod that links the motor to the lock

take off your door panel and have a look

    Thanks for the idea.
It is a bit confusing. I was thinking it may relate to the dodgy soldering on the circuit boards (reported elsewhere in these forums), or possibly (and simply) be a worn lock-barrel ?
