I have had this problem for about 3weeks now, the problem is that my front wipers do not turn off, i have changed the motor, switch and put in a new relay, i have to keep it on the 1st notch, if it is on the off section, it just stays on constantly. help please!!!!

I had a problem where my front wipers were coming on at random. It turned out it was because the rear washer was leaking inside the rear motor. Try taking the fuse for the rear wiper out and see if the fronts work properly then!!

I have the exact same problem. Sometimes they turn off perfectly, other times they just dont turn off and I can hear this ticking noise from near the drivers footwell. The wipers will then do about 8 or 9 wipes of the window and then suddenly stop in a random part of the window (9 out of 10 times its in my view)! Once they stop there fine until the engine is restarted and they start again, even though the stalk is in the off position. Othertimes they park properly and dont cause any problems at all. Its rather annoying cause my wiper blades are now worn done due to wiping on a bone dry window.

KRIS214 that is EXCACTLY my problem!!! i think its in the wiring loom, coz i changed everything that needs to activate the wipers. i'm lucky now coz its sunny i'v taken out my fuse!!! but however my rear motor has gone but it went like 1 moth ago, so the fuse for that is out cos everytime i start my car the motor sound goes off. but the rear wiper does'nt move, i'v been havin this problem 2weeks now. what the flippin hell do i do!!!! its driving me mad!!!

KUNAL I would sure like to know what the problem is. I was going to startby replacing the wiper relay but VW garage didnt have any in, and Im now rather glad because by the sound of it the relay isnt at fault.

So far I have replaced nothing because Ive been too busy spending my money on other faults with the car and Im now totally skint and just today theres a weird noise coming from the front end when I turn a corner. Im well ****** off and my heart is broke with the car. I will never own another VW after this.

If you get any joy with the wiper problem mate please let me know. Thankyou.

Thanks mate. My clutch is still working fine thankfully but it would just be my luck for it to go aswell. Im for definatly selling mine as soon as I can fix the wiper problem so if your VW specialist comes up with anything then please let me know. Im so pi**ed off with mine that Im going to buy a rover metro just until I can get the golf fixed and sold.
