Hi all, this is first post on here. But i've been using the resource over the last few weeks as i have been looking into buying a 54 reg tdi 130 trendline. I have now purchased the car and a love it! But there is one thing that I would like some info on.

The head lights, when on dip beam are shocking. They are adjustable but even on the highest setting they are still rubbish. Are all Passat's like this, or is it just mine? On main beam they are excellent, it just seems to be the dip.

If this is the case for all standard Passats, is there anything that can be done to rectified it?

    Thanks in advance

    Jason.

The headlights on all VAG cars are shocking, excepting those with Xenon factory fitted lights. It is a long running subject on here.

Strange, I think my Dip are OK, but also think the previous owner has changed them for something else. Wonder if they are a higher wattage. I might have to have a look.
My Main beam are not great though, aim too high and are patchy, I bet they are cheap bulbs. Might upgrade them too, but tbh they don't get used very often.

The lights on my Fireblade are almost as good on dip and absolutely brilliant on main! Only 2 bulbs compared to 4 aswell.

I fitted a HID conversion kit to my 130 54 plate - I would never go back to halogen. Well worth the money. I was also able to hide the n/s ballast so that it made a tidy job.

Me oto Inca66, well worth the upgrade, usual disclaimers apply, not intended as advice etc....

My main beams aren't great either, so patchy and too low, and the adjusters have snapped.

Can you adjust the Main beam seperately?!

Crasher, yeah I do eat a lot of Carrots! LOL

Honestly though, mine are probably twice as clear and confidence inspiring as the ones on my A4's - both were facelift ones with projectors, the same basic setup. ?????
