Creaking noise from dasgboard

Does any one else get a creaking noise from the dashboard when driving. we have a 07 passat and the noise seems to come from the dashboard around the controls. when the noise starts if we press down in certain parts of the silver dash it stops. also if you press down on the bottom right of the glovebox it also stops. its very irritating and quite embarrassing if i have friends in the car.

any ideas

I have an 06 Sport Estate and that creaks in the same places, it seems to be worse when I first get in the car (cold) then it gets a little better but will creak on acceleration.

I have heard that dry PTFE spray behind the plastic can work but I have not tried it although I plan to this week sometime.

I have a similar dash creak on my 56 TDi Sport which is worst when the interior is cold, and reduces as things warm up. Seems to come from the passenger glove box area, but hard to localise. Will post if I find a solution. Hope others will do likewise.

I'm going to remove the plastic trim from around the stereo and aircon controls when I leave work today to see if things are quieter. I will let you know later how I get on.

I did have a noise from the glovebox but that seems to sorted it self out

My Tdi 140 sports dashboard creaks like an old sailing ship, espically on exceleration, speed bumps and uneven roads (in fact most of the time). It seams to be coming from the hard plastic trim on the passanger side and centre consoul. VW are having a look at it tomorrow so I will keep you posted. Dare I say that my old S reg Passat was better screwed together than the current B6

My noises are from the same place, I removed the trim from around the stereo and aircon last night and the creaking has reduced a lot there is however creaking from the 2 trays, the small trim that sits above the trays (quite load) and the trim that goes along the dash above the glove box.

And I agree with you talmanja, I had an S reg 1.8T Sport and it was a great car not a peep from it all the way to 160k, I would gladly part ex this B6 for an old Passat!

I collected my Passat from VW last night and 99% of the creaking is repaired. just the occasional noise while under acceleration. The tech guy apparently fitted foam packing behing the trim and centre councel to good effect. This was done under warrenty by the local VW dealership who`s customers service was second to none.

I took my car to VW today for a few things and I happen to mention the creaking dash, he said he will look into it for me.

I got a call an hour ago and they said that they are ordering new trim as over time they may have gone brittle, I'm not sure if this will have any packing behind it. They also said they they will check a few thigs behind the dash as they are aware that some connections come loose and may creak.

I will book my car back in when they get the parts and I will let you know how I get on.
