    All,

    A bit confusing (maybe just me). Does TDI stand for Turbo Direct Injection? and GTI Grand Touring Injection? Just wanted to confirm as some people say TDI is Turbo Diesel Injection!

    I have a Diesel 150BHP Golf but is badged GTI (I understand this is correct), but can present some confusion as to what GTI and TDI really are? People presume GTI's are only petrol, but seems it's not strictly true?

    Any thoughts? Many thanks.

    I think TDI is Turbo Diesel INTERCOOLER !
    GTI being Grand Tourer Injection (going back years)

    TDI - Turbocharged Direct Injection

    GTI - Gran Turismo Injection

    Agree with above. Always known it as this.
    2003 VW Golf Est 1.9 TDI 130 (gone but not forgotten after 367,000 miles)
    2006 Audi A3 2.0 TDI Sport 140
