    Hi, newbie here, i have just bought a 2005 A6 2.0 Tdi and was wondering how i can find out if its fitted with a DPF? Thanks Alan.

    I posted the same question on April 13 and got no reply. Maybe we each just have to go to our nearest Audi dealer and ask him.

    But I can't believe there isn't somebody on this forum who knows the answer!

    With the engine warm, hold a white handkerchief over the tailpipe and get some one to rev to 3500rpm and back to idle slowly such that it takes a few seconds - if the handkerchief is clean, you have DPF. e.g.

    I'm pretty sure only the 170bhp diesels have DPF
    A4 2.5 tdi QS (mapped)

    I checked the front of my service book (next to the serial number) which shows whether it has a DPF.
