  1. Change of Plan- 1.8T 163

I was originally going to go for a 1.8T 190 Sport or the S-line model but i have decided against it now. I have decided to go for a 1.8T Limited Edition instead now.

The main reason is of price. The 190 Sport are around 2003 go for £8.5-9.5k and the s-line are around the £10k mark. The 2004 1.8T limited edition's go for around £8k.

£2k is a lot of money, the limited edition has the s-line kit, alloys, sport seats, etc. The only thing i can see that it dont have is the half leather seats, aluminium trim and obviously different engine.

Have i missed anything off, whats the 163bhp engine like? I will be getting it remapped to around 200bhp.

Not sure how the engine compares to the 190 but I have a 163 and I'm pretty happy with it. Not quite as frantic (or powerful) as the Civic I had before, but much more torquey. Mine likes a drink, getting about 28-30mpg when I'm being sensible!

I can get over 400 miles if on a steady motorway cruise in my 190 A4 (read 75-80 ish).
I'm not sure how much difference there is between the 2 engines, but they should both be pretty good.

My 163 is quite good, best in mid range. I dont know how it differs in feel to the 190 but im guessing it still isnt a high revver. turbo lag is more prevelant than a 2.0tfsi for sure. i get 25-35mpg

I was the same as you when looking for mine but opted for the 190 S-Line in the end, yep more expensive but just drove better and that bit more power also liked the seats/trim

Is it worth 2k more though? not sure to be honest.....but happy with mine.
