    Hi

My 52 reg has developed an intermittent fault. The ABS and ESP dash lights come on most of the time occasionally going out for 4-5 miles. I've had a reputable independent specialist look at it. Their diagnostic equipment pointed them in the direction of the ABS switch but this didn't solve the problem. Pads etc. are all fine.

Any one else had this problem? They are starting to talk of the ABS pump, which I'm told is big bucks, but is this generally a problem on a car with 82k on the clock?

    Regards,

    Del

This normally happens when a brake light is out, but it's normally on or off, not intermittent. You could check your bulbs though, just in case.

Did you have any work done on the car recently, eg.: brakes, suspension arms, shocks ? If the fault point to an abs sensor, then it might be that one is out of sinc with the rest or its not pluugged in properly, also are the front/rear tyres the same rolling radius/make ? Can you scan the cars memory and post the fault code on the forum ?

Had the same problem and it turned out to be the brake light switch which is a pig to replace because it has to be turned a ful 90 degrees in situ. You may find that the brake lights don't work or stay on. I can't remember. Regards

I had same problem, did the warning lights come on just after you put your foot on the brake? my ABS/ESP/level control on my allroad was all due to the brake light switch, but i used vag-com to diagnose that.Only cost about £10 or so, and that was from a ***********.....

    Hi all

Thanks for your help so far. The fault code is 01435 Brake Pressure Sender. That has been replaced as has the brake light switch. ESP and ASB lights are still coming on though.

If I am heavy and abrupt on the brakes the fault doesn't seem to occur so readily. Light pressure braking seems to instantly bring the problem on. Interestingly it appears to be when I'm coming off the brakes when the lights come on.

    Regards,

Can you confirm that the brake lights work perfectly. Please check.
