power cable connection help needed

hi i was wandering if anybody could tell me if there is an easy way of connecting my amp power lead to my battery. ive got a 2001 passat v5, 600w in phase amp and a sony xplod sub. ive been told that you can connect the power lead to a fuse box under the steering collum or to the 12v socket in the boot which would be perfect as i cant see a logical way to run it from the battery as there is so much stuff in the way covered by ducting. Any help would be much appreciated.

Whatever you do dont connect it to the lighter socket in the boot they are probably rated at about 5 amp (have a look at the fuse(s) on your amp to see what its rated at and you'll see why you shouldnt use the lighter) - The safest way is straight to the battery with a fuse before it goes through the bulkhead.

Not too sure how to get the cable thorugh though mate as have only fitted head units or hands frees to Passats
