    Hi there all
I have just won a 6 disc cd player from fleabay, it is the type that is mounted in the dashboard rather than the remote changer in the boot.-- My question is how to remove the "cubby hole" used for general storage mounted above the standard Gamma radio. It appears to have no screws etc holding it in so i assume that you try to prise it out with a screwdriver or something similar.
Just want to check with you guys before i force it out and break something.

    Regards
    Chris.

You have to remove the stereo first (which you will have to do anyway to connect the CD, then the starage compartment should come out easily.

you might also need the spacer plate to sit between the changer and the tape player / main unit

Yep, thanks for that, the spacer and removal tool came with the cd player, did not check all the items in the box at first !! thanks for your help, have removed the cubby hole now and fitted the cd player, only trouble is that the illumination does not work- my Bora does not have the separate 2 pin plug from the loom to power it, I saw a thread that mentioned an aftermarket product that would sort this out but cannot find the tread now !!

    Regards
    Chris.

ok just went and got my gamma radio and 6 disc outo the cupboard
on the radio are 3 plugs starting at the bottom there is the iso power connection
    in the middle speaker connection

then at the top there is the multi connection ( yellow green and blue ) the blue is the changer. the yellow i believe is an amp connection. the green ????

the only illumination is through the power connection ( usually an orange colour but im not 100% ) you might just have to run a wire from your dimmer switch to the power connection. if theres not one there an adaptor cable for a vauxhall should do as its just an extension cable

what is this 2 pin connector your on about ?

i know when i installed my own cd player and done away with the gamma and changer i had to cut the illumination wire and wire it directly to the headunit as it had a separate wire for illumination

Ok thanks for your help and digging all your old gear out !! Do you have any idea where this power supply may be hidden or might it not be there at all in my model (2.0 S) i would be surprised if VW made several different looms.

    Regards
    Chris.

ive no idea mate it must still be floating around the back of my central console. would say it would be just a wire from the illumination lead and and an earth connection but dont quote me on this
