    Hi,

I am the new owner of 2000 GT tdi. very happy but was considering chipping the car for a bit more ooomph and grunt.

Ive been in a bora thats been chipped and differance was very noticable.

Is it a good idea to chip the car, or am i heading down the wearing the life of the engine down etc.

I would also change the dampers springs etc.

    Any coments??

    hi and thanks.

it's the 115bhp. it's got a wee problem right now, the MAF turbo going limp thing, but that'll be sorted shortly.

Been looking around the net and found afew options. Expensive: SUperchips at £499, but it gives the biggest gains. and theres the cheapest a plug one at £140. theres LOTS of options around, am tempted by Angel tuning, threres on here in scotland. it's very confusing.

I was tempted to get my 1.8T GTI remapped but my insurance company want about £400 extra for a 23% boost in BHP Wait until renewal time methinks as I can't be bothered cancelling and sorting another policy out.

Seems to be a can of worms regarding how detectable a remap is too.

    Hi Mate,

Can add upto 45hp and 80 nm torque to these. You can send me the ECU if you want, will take about a wee to turn around.

    I've PM'd you a price.

    Thanks, Mark

The company I was looking at "TDI-tuning.co.uk" do the tuning boxes for £150 or cheaper on ebay . I've been quoted £270-300 for remap will there be that much differrence between them? If anyone has had the above named companies tuning box could they tell me how they compare to others that are charging £400+ for a tuning box?
