Door lock won't release door

Hello,

Can anyone advise if it is possible to release the deadlock on my Mk4 Golf as the door will not open. The central locking function is working as all four doors unlock but the drivers door will not open if either the internal lever or external handle are pulled. If I can get the door opened I can sort out whatever is causing this situation but I don't know how I can release the deadlock with the door closed? Any advise appreciated.

Hi Anarra,
I had a similar problem with my passenger door.
I sprayed some WD40 between the door frame and the door (inside the car).
Using the WD40 plastic stray, I sprayed as close to the lock as possible, between the door frame and door and I manipulated the door handles inside and outside until it opened.

thanks for your response, I didn't think to spray in some lubricant, I'll give it a go!
