    I can't work out "soked" - sorry....

What's the mileage - some VW dealers will do warranty work if it's not too far out....

I'm not sure what you mean either, or even if the software is your problem... but if your going to pay for a remap.... why not get an enhanced one from one of our supporting tuning companies?

I've had my PD100 remapped and it transformed the car, adding 40bhp and ooodles of torque

Just a thought - if VW say it needs a software update - did they expand on the exact reasons as to why and what might be the cause, etc.

If there was a required software update, surely this should have been done previously and VW be aware of this? I'd've thought they would have recognised that it needed the upgrade and just done it as a safety measure....

If it's got FSH it should have been updated at the services. However, there were problems with stalling and hesitation at low engine speeds, and it might have passed out of VW's hands before being done.

Did you not get a warranty with the car? Get a recognised VW dealer to do the update(s) and ask them to send the bill to yours - shouldn't cost a lot.....
