    hi
    great forum, great advice
my gt tdi150 has just brought up the dreaded- 'Stop- oil pressure' red dash warning sign.
my partner was driving and has driven approx half a mile to get it back home with it on.
    im worried.
levels are ok, no milky deposits but i know i am due an oil change/service.

    simple question. whats the problem?
oil filter sludged up and dead
    oil pump dead
    turbo dead
    or engine......

im getting rac to do a check tomorrow- hopefully they will advise
    any help would be appereciated
    thanks
    jonny

Dip the oil probably just a bit low, if so just top it up and see if it cures it.

My first impression you "should" be OK.

the oil level has been good for last six months. its right in the middle.
the rac man thinks the oil filter is best place to start and obviously a change and probably a flush.
im dropping it off at Phil Davies Vw specialist in Plymouth tomorrow
    he'll fix it im sure
i just hope its not mechanical damage eg engine
    il wait and see....
    cheers

Yes if the oil filter is blocked it "could" do that although most have a valve to stop it happening.
I would drive real cauciously until it's found what is wrong, I can tell you that if there is no oil pressure it will destroy the main bearings and big ends very quickly, I cannot stress enough take it easy until the problem is found.
