Door lock not working

I have a 1998 passat and the NSR door lock will not operate with the central locking. I have replaced the door loom complete, which is what I thought it was. Obvious answer is a new lock, but I just want to check if it could be something else. Any ideas please

I had same problem with my 98 passat tdi. Renewed door latch (catch/lock) on n/s/r and everything was back to normal(ish). Every now and then though, the dead locks will not come in unless another push of the key fob button. bearing in mind that my renewed door catch was from a bone yard. Probably should have spent a few more quid on a new un'.

Hi guys,
Might be worth seeing if you can get the car plugged into VAGCOM to see if there are any faults in there. I've come across a few who had tried to re-code the locks do to other things such as beep once for unlock and beep twice for lock but came stuck when they tried to code this themselves. It may be something as simple as this and if it is I would try and get the software to reset it back to the original factory settings or play it safe and have all the locks perform the same functions.
