    hi, peps

    today my remote central locking went **** up here the story,

    Open the car as normal .ie fob went to put some feul in did so but when i just entered the car the self locking went ie car locks after 30 secs , I put the key in the ignition and drove off when I tryed to lock it with the remote the interior light stayed on! so i check all doors and bonnet no joy, with the fob opens fine hazards flash windows go down with key in door all other doors opens any way to reseting the device..
    Car Golf tdi (99)5 door

    Any help guys

    The mk4's suffer from dry joints in the door locking electrics (dodgy microswitches) this can lead to all kinds of locking strangeness.

    The central locking can be reset to factory defaults by removing both battery leads from the terminals and holding them together for 15 seconds. (record your radio code if needed)

    WOW WOW thxs for the reply nice work thats some job quick question about battery when u take off the termals you said hold them together for 15secs would that harm the ecu any way thanks very much more help than a garge would do keep up the good work post with the answer to my problem
