    I have an A6 audi it is 1999 2.4SE the drivers window has decided to only go down in steps of about three inches at a time I have tried to reset the computer but no luck has any one got any ideas please

    Sounds as if there is some resistance in the mechanism some where.A strip down might be worth it..

    Thanks for that thought but I think it might be something more sinister. It was working one minuite then it just only travel the three inches wether you hold the button or just flick it up or down thanks anyway

    might be totally off, but in some other vag cars (like my polo gti) the windows can be re-set simply by holding the button in the up position for a few seconds once the window is shut until a click is heard. this fixed the problem i had with the auto up/down thing not working. might be worth a try?

    I had this on the rear drivers side window a couple of years ago. The window would stick, move up and then on occassion open completely. I feared I'd have to buy a new window motor. My local garage (non audi) told me they greased the guides on the window mechanism. It has been ok ever since.
