Bought a new Passat in January.

Have has a couple of braking problems

Brake pedal is locked up and will not activate - can not push pedal

    Several near misses

With VW dealer for past 4 weeks & still not corrected.

    Anyone had something similar?

    :O

Not me, but I'd seriously consider rejecting this car citing the Sales of Goods act.....

I had a similar problem but with the accelerator pedal.

I had a stone lodged under the pedal in one of the little holes and it stopped me from pushing the pedal right down and it crunched slightly every time I got to the limit.

I got the hoover out underneath the pedal and sucked out a huge pebble from the beach. Now i'm fine again.

Brake pedal is a little different thoygh as they hang from the top and are not connected to the bottom like the accelerator. Might be worth a taking a look around for a floor mat or stone that has got caught though...

This totally unacceptable and makes the car unusable so your Dealer had better get to the bottom of the problem and pronto.

I would have thought that the first place to start is the Brake Master Cylinder.

Do the brakes lock themselves up i.e are they pumping them selves up but not releasing ?

Could it be the parking brake not releasing ?

This could be adjustment but the Dealer should get to the problem and VW MUST be told about this !

    Regards
    Simon

Wow, that must be a serious issue if the dealer cannot rectify in less thatn 4 weeks sorry to hear

I've only had mine for a couple of weeks, and have to say the electric handbrake makes some weird noises, I guess if anything will let the car down it stands a good chance of being related to that.

Hope you soon get it sorted and back with you!

Have you been on conctact with your dealer on this? Me - I'd be calling the dealer daily to harass them....

I'd suggest they use it as a demonstrator for a week
