I'm having repeated problems with the same two control motors. I think the fault code throws up a problem with the potentiometer in the motor unit. I have managed to fix the problem by removing the motors units and opening them up and spraying the pot with IPA. I did have to reset the flaps motors using vagcom before they would work properly. I don't know how long it will last before they fail again.

I did exactly the same thing as you...Peace again! BUT only lasted for a couple of weeks, and has started the same erratic behavior in I think 3 of the motors.
i agree, i think it is the potentiometers that are causing the fault, which would be fine, if we could purchase and replace just that part and not the whole motor assembly at approx £70 a pop!!
The pot is probably a couple of £s worth only. Has anyone been able to get hold of this potentiometer separately??

Have you tried to clean the potentiometer - assuming you can get it out.

What happens with them (note I have never done it in an audi but in general electronics - radio etc) is a layer of dirt builds up on them.

I have taken many apart - very very carfully as the arms are very fragile - and then cleaned the carbon track down with methelayted spirits or my favourite - an Ink erasor (same as a pencil one but much courser). again be careful with the arms. note you could replace them yourself - just get a multimeter to measure the total resistance and then go to your local maplins and get one of the same resistence with a 1% tolerance. Again I stress I have never done this in an audi but it should work - there is nothing special about a potentiometer.

This should fix any problems with them.

    Regards,

    Walter.
